This is my Story – Mulemba

Often times than not, many people ask me what missionary work is like. Well, here is my personal experience.

Sometime mid 2021, my friend Joy Chikonde and Malango Kanchela shared with me their mission experiences and advised me to attend the next mission. I was so excited and I started looking forward to the next mission. The way God works, a few months down the line, Impact announced their next mission and I was happy. Long story cut short, I attended my first mission in December 2021 which was held in Manyinga, North-Western Province.

One of my favorite moments were seating outside in the dark of the night. Especially when having supper.  staring at the bright lights in the sky. Twinkle twinkle little star. By far the best sky gaze you can have away from the distractive city lights. A cool, calm, clear and collected mind, a cool breeze oozing from left to right blowing softly on my face. Interacting one on one with nature and appreciating Gods goodness. Definitely beautiful moments that you don’t get to experience in the noisy, dusty cities.

Further, the other thing that I found amazing was Disconnecting from my phone and social media for a good two weeks. This was probably the first time I stayed away from my phone for that long. But well, I was more than happy to disconnect from the world and just focus on the business of saving souls for Christ.

Mission has a way of reuniting and reconciling you back to Christ. From the fervent prayers, to the intense reading of scripture, sharing the word of God, going door to door etc, all these experiences just renew your heart, mind and soul. Mission acts as a spiritual filling station, the way a car stops to refuel for the trip to continue, we too need mission to refuel and reenergize ourselves.  With no doubt, God pours his Holy Spirit upon us. We witness his power from the exorcism to the healing of the sick and many more miracles that happen while on mission. If by any chance you want to grow spiritual in the word of God, I highly recommend mission.

But above all these personal experiences, one thing stands out for me. Seeing the person you preached to give their lives to Christ and accept God as their Lord and personal savior through Baptism. By far the most fulfilling experience I have ever had.
